Najib Tun Razak as a reformist who constantly works to enhance political liberalization and democratization in Malaysia.
Prof. Joseph Liow of Singapores S.Rajaratnam’s School of International Studies, admits that the acquital of Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising his former aide will certaintly bolster PM Najib Tun Razak’s image as a reformist.
Bridge Welsh, an associate Professor in Political Science at Singapore Management University and a consultant for Freedom House also joins Prof Joseph Liow claiming that the acquittal was a sign that Malaysia is moving forward and she applaude that Najib has allowed the rule of law and fairness to prevail in Malaysia . She also said that the Malaysian judiciary can stand tall with the credit that when the final was reached, it was made on the basis of the evidence rather than politics.
The United States State Department , which has been cynical about the Malaysian Judiciary system ever since courting with Anwar Ibrahim, also praises and admits that the acquittal of Anwar from the sodomy charges reflects the independence of the Malaysian judiciary system.
The Australian government also commended PM Najib Tun Razak for his earnest efforts to bring political reforms and liberalization. The acquittal of Anwar Ibrahim from sodomy charges truly reflects the political reforms are taking place in Malaysia.
Europian Union high representative Catherine Ashton opined that the acquittal verdict shows the integrity of Malaysian ‘s judiciary system, which is an essential pillar in a democratic system.
