The New Economi
Model (NEM) launched by government has improved
the quality of life of many Malaysian throughout the country. The rural population,
particularly people in Sabah dan Sarawak has benefitted much from the
gobernment rural development programme. Between 2010 and 2013, 4.5 million
people have come out of poverty.
The mean income
level of a household has increased tremendously, hitting RM 2007 in year 2013
and expected to exceed RM 2,300 by 2015. Many lower income Malaysias from all
communities has been empowered to increase their earning capacity by getting assistance from the Low Income
Household (LIH) program and Amanah Ikhtiar
Malaysia (AIM) Initiatives under the
National Key Results (NKRA). According to Datuk Seri Idris Jala, the CEO of
Pemandu, 145,630 households has benefitted from LIH and 24,200 people benefitted
from AIM initiatives.
The government also
has plans to create 3.3 million high income jobs under the Economic Transformation Programme and RM3.61 bilion has already spent last year to provide technical and Vocational Education
to meet the above said target. With this, one can say convincingly that Malaysia is on the right
track to reach the goal of higher income nation by 2020. Let us work together
with gumption to achieve the noble goal set by our government.
